Mouse Paint is a Number Matching Set activity. The paint brushes have the numbers on them and the paint cans have the matching number of dots on them. To make this activity more tangible I hot glued milk jug lids to the bottom of each paint brush so that its raised up. Easier for small hands to pick up. I laminated the paint brushes and used my cricut machine for the letters. The mouse is from clipart images and I always put clear packing tape over the entire foam board for durability. I found the paint cans & brushes with the foam board at the Dollartree.

I was inspired to make my own version of an Alphabet Candyland after seeing one on Pinterest. I used a foam board that I purchased at the Dollartee and my Cricut Machine to make the letters and gingerbread people. I also used colored cardstock for the spaces. Its best to tape over the entire board with clear packing tape as a foam board is to thick for a laminating machine. This was a labor of love but I'm sure that my kiddies will enjoy playing. Other materials needed include a die, playing pieces, a small cloth bag  & circular letters attached to round wooden discs (hot glue them on).  Directions: Each time a child rolls the die he/she must pick a letter out of the bag and say the letter & its sound in order to move the number of spaces on the die. If unsuccessful, then their turn is over. My objective is to reinforce letter recognition & sounds.

One of my more recent creations. "Who Let The Letters Out" is a song by Dr. Jean on the "Kiss Your Brain" CD. It can be downloaded in an MP3 format from this website:  mp3skull.com/mp3/who_let_the_letters_out.html

Hello, I'm so excited to be starting a teacher's blog. I love creating all kinds of fun and engaging literacy and math activities for preschool children. My blog is still a work in progress so please be patient as I will have some new items to post in the coming weeks.
